Destiny 2 on PC: Release perhaps delayed, exclusive to Battle.net

Destiny 2 has been scheduled for release on September 8-but, as it turns out, that is only for the console versions of the game.

Blizzard was also squishy about PC release specifics in a FAQ regarding the game's release on Battle.net (which is supposedly actually called the Blizzard app now, even though no one calls it that).

But as Forbes pointed out, there is still a hint of mystery and a dash of disappointment when it comes to the Destiny 2 PC port.

Destiny 2's launch date on PC is expected to be revealed "in the coming weeks".

Speaking with PC Gamer at the event last night, Destiny 2's director Luke Smith said: "We're not committed to a PC date yet, but at Bungie we're totally committed to making a PC build as great as we can". Could we wind up with a situation similar to Grand Theft Auto V?

For those who are looking for more teasers, here's another for the upcoming "Destiny 2" video game - default PC controls. But, given that Destiny 2 on PC is a brand new endeavor for Bungie, there are a few comforts that they aren't able to provide - namely, dedicated servers. There will be a beta for the game this summer for the consoles as well, and another one out later for PC. Bungie CEO, Pete Parsons, said, "This is a defining moment for our studio, and we couldn't have done it without the continued support of our partners in Activision, Sony and now Blizzard". It would appear that Bungie and Activision have partnered up with Blizzard to make Destiny 2 available exclusively through the Battlenet store and launcher. In the event, we get our first look at gameplay footage for the game. There will be an FOV slider in the game at launch, along with support for 21:9 ultra-wide displays. There is something for nearly every type of gamer in Destiny 2, including gameplay for solo, cooperative and competitive players set within a vast, evolving and exciting universe.
