Blue Jays extend winning streak to four games

Unbeaten Dallas Keuchel (6-0) became the first six-game victor in the majors, helped by a home run from Carlos Correa.

In the stands was Pillar's mom Wendy, dad Mike and wife Amanda and 42,030 ecstatic Jays supporters who nearly blew the lid off the stadium.

After touching home plate, Pillar escaped his roughhousing teammates and bolted for the home dugout at Rogers Centre. "I didn't want it to rip completely. It was the first time my mother's been here for Mother's Day and I thought it would be nice to get the photo". Greinke (4-2) struck out 11 and walked one. "Those are memories that I'll remember the rest of my life and we've got the photo to remember it". Ryan Goins singled, took second on a passed ball, went to third on a single by Darwin Barney and came home on a sacrifice fly by Travis.

"There's been many times in my career when I tried to go up there and be the hero and ended up popping up or getting out", said Pillar. "So I guess that's good news".

"I'm glad I was able to make better pitches and turn things around after that".

The 33-year-old was removed after two innings against the Cleveland Indians on May 10, while he allowed seven runs on five hits. He didn't figure in the decision. Despite missing 12 games, he is also tied for fifth in the league in hits.

Blue Jays: LF Steve Pearce left with a sore right calf after sliding into second on a double in the second.

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Francisco Liriano on May 5, 2017.

Jean Segura hit a double to shallow right field, pushing Carlos Ruiz to third. Seattle was 0 for 7 with runners in scoring position and stranded seven base runners. Bautista was given an error on the play.

Zac Curtis replaced De Jong in the sixth inning and pitched around a hit batsman. The game appeared to be going in extra innings until Pillar's heroics in the ninth.

Bautista hit his three-run homer into the second deck for a 5-2 Toronto lead. "He's got a great change-up that he's been using a lot more as a starter".

Liriano is the third member of Toronto's starting rotation to spend time on the DL this season along with J.A. Happ and Aaron Sanchez.

"I'm well aware of what they say", Gibbons said, when asked about the ugliness of the standings. "Maybe it was a hemorrhoid or something".

Ryan Weber had an abbreviated start in his season debut for Seattle (17-20), throwing only 55 pitches before leaving the game in the midst of an at-bat in the fourth inning with tightness in his right shoulder.

There was still some blood spurting from the wound but it didn't seem to be an issue with either the team or Sanchez, who didn't really want to talk about the injury.

"We'll probably have to bring somebody up for tomorrow's game", Servais said.

Well, the Jays took another impressive step in the right direction on Friday with a 4-0 win over the Seattle Mariners, matching a season-high three victories in a row and five of their past six.

"We scratched and clawed and got back into it and won the game".

Cue Bautista, in the midst of a tie game against the Seattle Mariners Saturday afternoon, stepping into the box with two on and one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. As for Sanchez, 24, he has been dealing with blisters and blood all season long, however, both have come back after brief stints on the disabled list which seems to be more active then anywhere else this early in north of the border. Loup threw a wild pitch, moving Segura to third and Cruz to second, taking away the double play possibility. Just compete, attack, not even worry about what's going on with my finger. He has never faced the Blue Jays. He was pulled after 78 pitches in favour of Dominic Leone.
