With Jose Mourinho's tactical masterclass still fresh in the memory, two of the biggest statistical providers in the game dish out the stats and facts in the aftermath of Manchester United's 2-0 win over Ajax in the Europa League final.
A night that began with a moment of silence, then applause, in memory of the 22 people who died at Manchester Arena on Monday ended with United completing their trophy collection through goals from Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The former Dutch worldwide went on to admit that despite his side's impressive displays this season, they ultimately did not deserve to beat United.
Against an Ajax side that had garnered a lot of hype in the build-up to the match, United were able to physically impose themselves on the game from an early stage, defending efficiently against the Dutch side's attempts at intricate play.
After sealing the victory in the Europa League, formerly known as UEFA Cup, Manchester United have joined Ajax, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Juventus in an elite band of teams to have won all three of UEFA's major club trophies, namely European Champion Clubs' Cup/Champions League, UEFA Cup/Europa League, and European Cup Winners' Cup. "There were no chances from both sides".
"We played for England, we played for Manchester, and we played for the people who died". It is totally different than we do, but they have the trophy.
The 53-year-old told reporters: "I'm disappointed because you play finals to win them".
"It has been a really hard week in the city of Manchester and we are happy to win for all the people that have suffered".
"We preferred to reach the Champions League this way than finish fourth, third or second", said Mourinho. "We were not really in the game and that's too bad, because we can do much better than we showed".
United, wearing all blue as they did in winning the 1968 European Cup final, made an imposing start, with Pogba whistling a shot wide of the near post within the first minute.
"If I can say something about myself, I am very humble when I play finals, I respect the opponents, I study the opponent, I try to respect and make my players respect the strength of the opponent, to understand the weaknesses", Mourinho said after the match.
