'Wrestling moves' kill toddler, police say; mother, boyfriend charged

Her mother was complacent and did not intervene or seek medical help.

During the visit to the home, authorities found that Addie had obvious signs of trauma, Fox 2 reported.

The girl's mother, 19-year-old Cheyenne Cook, and 24-year-old Richard Gamache Jr., have been accused by police of torturing the child, identified only as "AC", KTLA sister station KTVI in St. Louis reported Tuesday. She was transported to the hospital, but died a few days later. Investigators say charges could to be upgraded in the case.

He also said it was possible that A.C. sustained some type of head injury from the wrestling moves, and A.C. may have struck her head on a concrete wall near his bed.

The Post-Dispatch said, "The move involves picking someone up by the waist who is bent over and facing someone, swinging their legs over one's shoulders and slamming them down on the ground on their backs".

"Our prayers are with "AC" and the investigators that were intimately involved with this investigation", Sheriff Dave Marshak said in a statement.

Gamache was arrested and charged with abuse of neglect of a child. Cook was charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Both Gamache and Cook were being held today in the Jefferson County Jail, Gamache on a $500,000 cash-only bond and Cook on a $2,500 cash-only bond.

Cook told authorities she and her daughter had begun living with Gamache six days before the alleged abuse on May 16, the report said. She has a bond of $2,500 cash-only.

The little girl's family set up a GoFundMe page seeking donations for funeral costs.
