White House Thrilled with Foreign Trip: Donald Trump 'At His Best'

Amid the pomp of President Trump's arrival ceremony in Israel was an issue of policy that's confounded presidents for generations, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

"We have before us a rare opportunity to bring security and stability and peace to this region and to its people", Mr Trump said upon his arrival in Tel Aviv.

Though Trump's coarse language about Muslims has gotten him in trouble in the past, the region's Sunnis - by far the religion's largest sect - were more concerned about America's tilt to Shiite Persia.

"That was a tremendous day", Trump said of the deal, according to a pool report.

A few hours earlier, standing in Bethlehem alongside Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, he said, "King Salman of Saudi Arabia could not have been kinder, and I will tell you, he's a very wise, wise man". "I could see a much deeper path to friendship with Israel". And "a lot of it's spurred on by what's happening in Iran".

The image showing President Trump and various Saudi Leaders touching a glowing globe is real.

But in his public remarks, Trump steered clear of any such language, and did not mention what has been the goal of USA diplomacy for two decades: a state of Israel and an independent Palestinian state co-existing side-by-side.

Speaking alongside Israel's president, Reuven Rivlin, at his residence in West Jerusalem on Monday, Trump said: "There is a growing realisation among your Arab neighbours that they have common cause with you in the threat posed by Iran". He toured the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, which by Christian tradition is where Jesus was crucified and the location of his tomb.

He used his visit to lash out at Iran while visiting Jerusalem and the Western Wall, placing his hand on one of the most sacred sites in Judaism in a highly symbolic move.

Focusing on the domestic situation at the start of his press conference, Rouhani criticised his hardline opponents for claiming they were the true keepers of the Islamic revolution.

Rouhani says that Iranians are "waiting for this government to become stable intellectually" and that "hopefully, things will settle down.so we could pass more accurate judgments". His daughter and wife, Ivanka and Melania Trump, did not wear headscarves during the trip. The US has never contended with how its decades of support for repressive regimes around the world, its support for Israel and the many wars in places like Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan have been instrumental in the rise of terrorism as a result of the breakdown of societies and states.

It was the second time in a week that the 35-year-old had stepped in to replace the President, after leading a White House meeting on human trafficking with members of Congress while her father was giving a commencement address for the US Coast Guard Academy. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley declared the site part of Israel, while U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Monday dodged the question.

Canada was selected as the site of a first presidential foreign visit for US presidents Harding, Roosevelt, Kennedy, Johnson, Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton and Obama.

Gulf Arab countries long have been suspicious about Iran, and the Obama administration's nuclear negotiations furthered their worries about Iran's regional intentions. He has taken a tougher line on settlements than Israeli officials had expected, urging restraint though not calling for a full halt to construction.

In his election campaign Trump pledged to move an Israel-Palestine peace accord further ahead than any USA president before him.
