"Official Announcement of the "Mae Young" Women's Invitational Tournament"

It is not known at this time whether women now signed to WWE - either those on the main roster or who have debuted on the NXT developmental brand - will perform in the tournament, though WWE certainly has others now training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando. While she definitely had some skeletons in her closet and was no angel to say the least, WWE dodged a major bullet by not going the obvious route and naming the tournament after The Fabulous Moolah.

Earlier this spring, WWE announced plans for a 32-participant women's wrestling tournament.

According to Triple H, tickets are on sale Friday, and they're sure to sell out fast, so be sure to get yours right away if you can make it to the area.

Additional information on the Mae Young Classic will be announced in the coming weeks.

We are looking for reports Thursday's NXT television taping and the Mae Young Classic tapings.

Here's The Game himself with the official word on the tournament's name on Twitter.

The tournament, which will probably be of the Cruiserweight Classic mold that was saw previous year (won by TJ Perk ... er, TJP), will featured 32 of the best female superstars in pro wrestling today.
