Is Dangal Going To Give Baahubali 2 Tough Competition In Overseas Markets?

Aamir Khan-starrer Dangal and SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2: The Conclusion have emerged to be two of India's biggest box-office hits of all time. Its worldwide collections in gross, excluding China and Japan, where the film is scheduled to open its cash counters next month, stands at a whopping Rs.1,550 crore. The film was released across 9,000 screens worldwide. Dangal will probably cross the 800 crore mark by today or tomorrow at the Chinese box office. Maoyan, a popular ticketing website in China, today reported that Dangal, which released in the country on May 5, has grossed 800 million yuan. The re-release has contributed massively to the film's overall collection, which has amounted to Rs 1,418 crore so far. Dangal created a new record by earning Dollars 15 million on Saturday alone, Prasad Shetty, partner of Strategic Alliance, a Chinese firm promoting Indian films in China for the past few years, told PTI here. "Our target now is for China to give us the biggest lifetime score of all time for an Indian movie,", Francois da Silva who presides over global sales for Arka Mediaworks (Baahubali producers) told Variety.

Dangal, meanwhile, has been a huge success in China, raking in over Rs 600 crore. However, Baahubali producers have not revealed much about it but after seeing the box office report of Dangal in China, we can expect much more from Baahubali 2. Released on 12 May, "Sarkar 3" has managed to earn only Rs 9.50 crore, whereas "Meri Pyaari Bindu" has collected Rs 9 crore at the Indian box office. On its first day, the movie broke all records after it earned over Rs 100 crore worldwide.
