In Rome, Melania again refuses to hold President Trump's hand

President Donald Trump has declared in the past that finding a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is "maybe not as hard as people have thought".

He said he was "truly hopeful that America can help Israel and the Palestinians forge peace and bringing new hope the region and its people".

Capping his first day in Israel on his first worldwide trip, President Trump expressed optimism Monday about a "new level of partnership" between the USA, the Jewish state and the Arab world.

Trump visited the Israel Museum and the Yad Vashem Holocaust remembrance center on Tuesday and now heads to Italy and later is expected to meet with Pope Francis. Another addition to this list is from the U.S. first couple's visit to Israel.

He said the goal of the U.S., Israel and Arab allies is "facing the threat of an Iranian regime that is causing so much violence and suffering".

"There are many things that can happen now that could never have happened before", Trump said during a visit to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's home. The U.S. has never recognized Israeli sovereignty over parts of the Old City seized in the 1967 war.

"I think (Trump) feels like there's a moment in time here", Tillerson told reporters traveling with the president on Air Force One.
