Relatives search for loved ones still missing after Manchester terror attack

The deadliest bomb attack on British soil took place on July 7, 2005 when four British suicide bombers inspired by al-Qaeda attack London's transport system, killing 52 and wounding 700. The wounded are being treated at eight hospitals in the Manchester area.

Police said they responded to reports of an explosion shortly after 10.35pm (5.35am Malaysian time) at the arena, which has a capacity for 21,000 people, and where the U.S. singer had been performing to an audience that included many children.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to Georgina's family at this awful time, and we think especially of her brothers Harry and Daniel who are also former students of the school".

Police said the 23-year-old was arrested in South Manchester.

She said the explosions rang out as soon as Grande left the stage. There's no news, I've just got to wait.

"The attacker, I can confirm, died at the arena". She released a statement saying, "We are working to establish the full details of what is being treated by the police as an appalling terrorist attack".

Britain is on its second-highest alert level of "severe" meaning an attack by militants is considered highly likely.

Initial reports from the scene relayed to US officials note that a number of the casualties may be from a stampede that occurred after the incident, NBC News reported.
