Trump sparked concern when he backed away from the long US commitment to a two-state solution to the conflict, saying he could support one state if it meant peace.

In the afternoon, Trump will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial before traveling to the Israel Museum to deliver his main address, which will "celebrate the unique history of Israel and of the Jewish people", according to the White House website.

Trump has said that he would veto any resolution aimed at an agreement between Israel and the Palestinians proposed by the Security Council and said the entire "not a friend of democracy" and "surely is not a friend to Israel".
