Boston Celtics Pull Off Historic Comeback Against James, Cavaliers

It was James' lowest point total in the playoffs since he scored seven for Miami in the 2014 conference finals against in, and before Boston's comeback, James was 49-0 in playoff games his team led by at last 20 points.

He had scored at least 30 points in eight consecutive playoff games, the first player to do that since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1970, and there didn't seem to be anything the Celtics could do to stop him.

Trailing by 21 and facing a potentially insurmountable 3-0 series deficit, the Celtics did something no other team had previously to a LeBron James-led team-they won. By the end of the first quarter, Cleveland had charged ahead, 35-24.

Cleveland is one of the best three-point shooting teams in the National Basketball Association - regular season and playoffs.

Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James finished the night with 11 points on 4-for-13 shooting, including 0 for 4 from beyond the arc.

"I had a tough game, period", James told reporters after the game. Now we're back to a LeBron James who was, once again in a fairly big playoff game, missing in action.

James said he just had an off-night. "We knew that Friday [Game 2] was a disaster", said Stevens. So it's not shocking at all that they entered Game 3 of the 2017 Eastern Conference Finals at home to Space Jam music. We couldn't get out in transition a lot. A little bit less spread pick-and-roll and random drags and those sort of things, where a guy like Gerald [Green] spacing the floor with Isaiah with the ball makes a lot of sense.

"We're going to go play with our backs against the wall, come out swinging". "He's the heart and soul, and he gives us so much and he's given us so much all year and I know for him not to be able to play it's because of something that's not good".

If James' play wasn't stunning enough, Cavs forward J.R. Smith said his celebrated teammate lacked confidence.

Despite James' struggles, the Cavs led 77-56 in the third quarter after making 14 3-pointers in the first half.

Smart is averaging 7.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 blocks in the postseason. They allowed offensive rebounds, played poor perimeter defense, and committed turnovers - all unusual things for this Cavaliers squad. The more Bradley, and more so Brad Stevens, can rely on bench players such as Jerebko, the better off the Celtics will be. You're going to attack Marcus Smart in the post?

"He's had a remarkable, remarkable year through some really hard circumstances", Stevens said. The Cavaliers lead the series, 2-1. There's never any of that stuff; it's just, let's figure out what we need to do to be on the attack and try to manage our margin for error better.
