30 students injured in Pakistani varsity clashes

The incident reportedly occurred in Quaid-e-Azam University of Islamabad city.

Out of the 25, 12 are reportedly students belonging to the Mehran students council, while 13 others are of those from the Baloch council. The Secretariat police have registered case against the students involved in the clash and started hunting them.

The nominated persons are accused of possessing weapons illegally, wreaking havoc at the university and making murder attempts.

At least 35 students got injured when two students groups clashed on Saturday at Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), said officials.

According to police, an exchange of fire also took place between the two groups, which had already clashed at the university premises last month over a minor issue. The police hurled teargas shells to disperse the students and arrested dozens of protesters.

More troops of police and Rangers have been called at the campus sight by university administration to control the situation. A few students were severely injured and admitted to hospital in critical condition.
