The NBA announced the finalists for six major individual awards on Friday, and one name was noticeably missing from the group of Most Valuable Player finalists. Boston must find a way to slow down James - who had 38 points, nine rebounds and seven assists - while not getting eaten up by a supporting cast, which other than Kevin Love's big game, didn't produce at its usual high rate.
"I believe we've got another level, as well", he said after Cleveland steamrolled the Boston Celtics with 130-86 on Friday night to take a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference finals. D'Antoni can add this award to the one he won in Phoenix in 2005 after returning to the National Basketball Association and guiding Houston to 55 wins and the league record for 3-pointers in a season. If a player played multiple positions, as James does, votes were counted for the position he plays most.
Although the Oklahoma City Thunder did not make it into the NBA Finals, one player may still bring a trophy back to the Sooner State. He joined Oscar Robertson (3 times) as the only players to have averaged at least 29.0 points, 11.0 assists and 8.0 rebounds in a single season. He was limited to 31 games due to injury, averaging 20.2 points and 7.8 rebounds. Along with that, LeBron James was also the only player in the league this year to hold those averages while shooting better than 50 percent from the field.
Davis was named the NBA All-Star Game MVP this year after setting a scoring record with 52 points. "Just like (Shaquille O'Neal), you can give him the MVP every season, if you want to".
James Harden has capped off a stellar season for the Houston Rockets by being unanimously voted to the 2016-17 All-NBA First Team. Wall last signed a then-maximum five-year, $84,789,500 contract in 2013.
Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, who won the past two MVP awards, is not among the finalists either. He was second in defensive win shares (5.4) and second with 3.9 deflections per game.
"His ability to put pressures on defense, coming at you full court 100 miles per hour, is not fun when you're on the other end". Instead of being able to get 30% of the salary cap on a new deal, Wall can get a maximum 35% if he were to work out an extension for four more years.
