As one could tell, my mom really likes me! Historically, moms bore more than the children and have often been disproportionately responsible for child rearing. She did, after all, most likely do all those things and more for you. Most mothers I have known in my life do the same, but we don't always notice it, acknowledge it and thank them for it. This will be their first Mother's Day without their beloved mother.
I am sure this is the case with many others who have lost their mothers through the years. And every year, you try to find the best present to show mom your appreciation. But, looking back, each was an expression of my Mom's love and devotion to her family. You're welcome, mom. Happy Mother's Day! I am blessed and fortunate that she is still around so I can return a measure of her love and that she can see that her sacrifice was not in vain. In 1908, the US Congress rejected a proposal to make Mother's Day an official holiday, joking that they would also have to proclaim a "Mother-in-law's Day". She said sometimes it can be impossible to get an hour or two to herself as a mom!
So to all our moms, I say a heartfelt Happy Mother's Day. "Somebody" doesn't know that once you're a mother, "normal" is history.
Thinking of the more than 100 pounds of Finnegan, Lochlan, bike seat, and carrier I will have attached to my bike.
Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers across our great county.
Kevin Hermosillo, student at San Bernardino High School, shared how his mother has encouraged and influenced him to be a better person: "My mother and I have always had an innate mother to son bond". Somebody said you can't love the second child as much as you love the first... Of course father has also a hand in making you a human but mother is the one who can build up your character.
We would like to begin with congratulating Nissan India for this attractive short film that salutes the spirit of motherhood. Well, she will be expected to share the gift with the rest of the family. But, if you're like me, you never know what to get "her".
As your Mayor, I will continue to do everything I can to enact and support legislation that supports the rights of our mothers not just on Mother's Day but every single day of the year. We don't have to just celebrate flawless relationships with ideal mothers living in a flawless world.
My wife and I love the holidays, and with both of our families living in Dixon (as we do, too), the holidays are fully filled family fun.
