Real Madrid wins its 1st Spanish title since 2012

Real Madrid clinched their first La Liga title since 2012 with a comfortable 2-0 win over Malaga, with goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema getting them across the line.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos and their teammates deserve this title.

Barcelona came from 2-0 down to beat Eibar 4-2.

The final measure of the La Liga season is here, and Real Madrid have one last step to secure a La Liga title: secure at least one point against Malaga, and the trophy is theirs. Ronaldo was released in behind by Isco, rounds Kameni in the Malaga goal and finishes into the empty net. Benzema's low cross found Ronaldo, who cut inside and hit a left footed strike towards goal, but Kameni pulled off an astounding stop to deny him.

Curtains are coming down on Spain's main football tournament La Liga, and predictably, both Real Madrid and Barcelona FC will be competing for silverware, though they have a match each to go before the finals. It would be Madrid's first double in the European competition and in La Liga in almost six decades.

"As coach of Real Madrid you know what the expectations are", he added.

"It has been very special, and although the merit belongs to everyone, it is mostly the players". "I've won everything with this club, but this title is special".

"It is the happiest day of my professional life by a distance", Zidane said after landing Madrid's first title in five years. Messi had earlier missed a penalty before making amend with another penalty.

Messi, the league's scoring leader with 37 goals, converted another penalty in the 75th and closed the scoring in injury time.

"The game was a demonstration of what the team has been like in the last few years". I'm more interested in what we're going to do.

Andrew Hjulsager looked to have dashed the visitors' hopes when he struck in the final minute of normal time, but Juanmi had other ideas. "We have to congratulate the champions". Barcelona will also be in some post-season action, meeting Alaves in the finale to the 2017 Copa del Rey.

- 101 Great Goals (@101greatgoals) May 21, 20172′ Ronaldo puts Real Madrid ahead. Isco has been a key part of Madrid's form in the second half of the season, notching a total of 10 league goals in 30 appearances, just 18 of them starts.

But such things won't be on his mind right now. It's been 50 years of a lot of happiness in this venue.

Athletic Bilbao ended in seventh place after the loss at Atletico, without one of the two spots for the Europa League next season.

Qualification for the Europa League will be settled on Sunday afternoon.
