Fox's Seth Rich Conspiracy Has Collapsed, But Right-Wing Pundits Keep Pushing It

On Friday Russia's United Kingdom embassy released a tweet calling the deceased staffer a "WikiLeaks informer" with the text "Who killed Seth Rich?" superimposed over a looming, malicious looking image of Hillary Clinton.
WikiLeaks has offered a reward for information on Rich's killer while suggesting it had something to do with the controversy surrounding the Democratic National Committee's involvement in last year's election. At the beginning of the week, Rod Wheeler, a Fox News legal commentator, claimed to have evidence linking Rich to Wikileaks, but no evidence followed and the story was quickly debunked. Wheeler, a former homicide detective and Fox News contributor, recanted his story and claimed he was misrepresented by a reporter.
"We have this very unusual story now of this young man who worked for the Democratic National Committee, who apparently was assassinated at 4 in the morning, having given WikiLeaks something like 53,000 emails and 17,000 attachments".
Gingrich suggested police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have covered up Rich's July 10 death in an effort to pin the DNC hack on the Russian government. It was this young guy who, I suspect, was disgusted by the corruption of the Democratic National Committee. The federal investigator has claimed that an FBI forensic report on Rich's computer, which was conducted shortly after his death, reveal that Rich made contact with WikiLeaks through Gavin MacFadyen, who is now also dead.
Washington's Metropolitan Police Department, which continues to investigate the murder, says there is evidence to suggest Rich was the victim of a botched robbery.
On Fox and Friends, Gingrich said: "We have this very odd story here of this young man who worked for the DNC who was apparently assassinated at four in the morning having given WikiLeaks something like 23,000 - I'm sorry, 53,000 - emails and 17,000 attachments".
"It never contained any e-mails related to WikiLeaks", a former law enforcement official with first-hand knowledge of Rich's laptop told NBC News. According to reports, Rich was set to testify against Hillary Clinton in a lawsuit for campaign fraud.
On Sunday, speculation that the young DNC staffer was involved in the leaks was promoted by internet millionaire and the embattled founder of Megaupload, Kim Dotcom.
But the Rich family has dismissed P.I. Wheeler's allegations as "fake evidence" and then he appeared to backpedal on his claims.
Surprisingly, Mr Hannity jumped into Twitter to ask Mr Dotcom just that, tweeting the accused German pirate " You are the evidence? In fact, as the Washington Post pointed out, the video is from Rich's family's GoFundMe site to thank donors.
"At this point, only people with transparent political agendas or sociopaths are still perpetuating Seth Rich conspiracies and in Newt Gingrich we find both", said Bauman.
Reddit has a strict policy against sharing personal information, but a previous case in which Reddit chief executive Steve Huffman manually altered user's comments drew ire from users and forced a public apology.
