Man Utd to move for Chelsea star

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is keen to add such much-needed steel to his midfield at Old Trafford for next season, with it rumoured this morning that the Portuguese tactician has set his sights firmly on a Chelsea mainstay to partner Paul Pogba at the heart of his side.

Matic was a key figure during Mourinho's title glory with Chelsea in 2014 though, and would help provide stability at Old Trafford.

Calciomercato cite Tuttosport in reporting that Serie A heavyweights Juventus are looking to poach Matic from former boss Antonio Conte in the summer transfer window.

Midfield steel and defensive prowess, which Matic has plenty of, is something United have arguably lacked this season and if Mourinho can tempt him north to Manchester then the Serbian worldwide could be the missing piece in the Portuguese's midfield puzzle at Old Trafford. This could mean that Matic may find his game time with the newly crowned Premier League champions limited.

It's reported that United would need to pay at least £40m to enter negotiations with the Serbian global, who was a key player under Mourinho in Chelsea's title-winning side in 2014/15.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Dier was a target for Mourinho, but difficulties in trying to prise him away from Tottenham have reportedly led United to consider other options.

I think Matic would be an excellent signing for United if they could pull it off as he'd be the ideal foil for Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera in the middle of the park.
