"We don't have them-I think it's a good idea... you have a level of hostility that's incredible and it's very unfair".
Guilfoyle is now a co-host on Fox News' "The Five" and has criticized the current press team on-air.
Spicer then bursts into the press room, pushes Sanders aside, and does battle-as-usual with reporters - once again crushing New York Times White House correspondent Glenn Thrush in the process.
"I guess I was a little bit surprised, because all of the Democrats, I mean, they hated Jim Comey", Trump said. Pirro then brought up press secretary Sean Spicer, and if his job was secure or not.
The network said in a statement that Guilfoyle "is a valued member of the FOX News primetime lineup, and is under a long-term contract with the network".
Mr Trump's frustrations came to a head this week after four months in office, with the firing of Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey, who was overseeing the probe into his campaign's possible ties to Russia's election meddling. "Now, with rumors boiling in Washington, D.C., about a broad shakeup to Trump's press team following a drumbeat of controversies, Guilfoyle's name has resurfaced".
David Asman said someone in the White House needs to "take charge" and stop the constant leaks from inside the White House to the press. "It has to be somebody with a very close relationship, where there's trust there, there's inherent loyalty, someone who's been there from the beginning".
Guilfoyle, a former prosecuting attorney, told the Bay Area News Group that a "number of people" in the Trump administration have approached her about replacing the embattled Spicer.
And though the reports say the president is focused on reorganizing his communications team and strategy, both indicate he's become increasingly upset with the way his surrogates have been relaying his moves, a problem that Republican strategist Ford O'Connell said was on full display during the Comey fallout. "At the same time, life is exciting and it's about different chapters in your life, so I'm excited about the future".
