LeBron, Cavs have reeling Celtics in must-win for Game 2

Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James dribbles during Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals, in Boston, on May 7.

But here's the rub for top-seeded Boston on Friday night: James said he wasn't even playing at peak condition.

James scored at will in the first half and the Cavs built a 26-point lead.

What time does the Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Boston Celtics Game 2 Start?

He was efficient, scoring from the outside, rolling downhill and getting to the rim at will, passing to teammates and locking down Boston's scorers.

Oh, and there's extra motivation for Cleveland - 9-0 in these playoffs - which could earn another long rest if it makes quick work of the Celtics.

"We didn't shoot the ball as well as we're capable of shooting it", James said.

"It's one game. I don't care if you win by 200 points", Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue said. "Obviously I feel like I should be a first-team player, but it is what it is".

"We want the mentality of Kevin from Minnesota, but his usage rate don't have to be as high as Minnesota", James said.

James had 22 points in the first half, when he also collected six assists and had three blocked shots, including a chase-down rejection of Bradley that was reminiscent of the one against Andre Iguodala in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. Good luck with that Boston.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics Game 2 kicks off at 8:30 p.m.

"Similar to some of the thought processes we went through in the Chicago series", Stevens said. We understand that this is a good team. Rather than have James or Kyrie Irving play with four reserves, Lue put Love in as the alpha dog and had the team ride him to keep the momentum going. Al Horford was a non-factor for the second straight game, finishing with 11 points and five rebounds.

Game 2 of the Cavs-Celtics game might be the LeBron James show, but J.R. Smith found a way to stand out in what is a historic beatdown of the Celtics in Boston.

"We wanted to come in and set the tone and dictate the game".

The Celtics rallied a bit and actually cut their deficit to 11 with the benches cleared in the final minutes.

Isaiah Thomas made a point on Thursday: the Celtics aren't scared of the Cavs, even after a hard 117-104 Game 1 loss.

For his part, Thomas said there doesn't need to be a lot of soul searching. "They're not on 'Space Jam, '" Thomas said. There are going to be moments where you play great defense and they make you pay. "I mean, I've seen it all.I've just got to be more aggressive, make plays, make shots, and go from there". Kelly Olynyk was up to his old tricks by pulling on Tristan Thompson's arm, Isaiah Thomas held Kevin Love's ankle while on the ground and launched himself at a driving LeBron James, which undercut and injured him on the play.
