Two goals from Patrick Roberts, a Griffiths penalty and strikes from Tom Rogic and Callum McGregor levelled the 103-point tally reached by Martin O'Neill's team in 2001-02.
'For a minute he forgot himself, ' said Rodgers afterwards. This is a team that's selfless.
"He's a brilliant boy and all strikers will always be the same". This is about the culture of the team.
"We are playing our 57th competitive game tonight so I need a squad of players".
Rodgers added: "It's gone now". They can cut you open and play at a tempo and if you let them play at that tempo. we stood off them at key times.
"I think if you look at the numbers of tonight we matched 33 wins, which is the most wins in a league campaign by Celtic".
Callum McGregor struck a glorious fourth via the underside of the crossbar before Roberts completed the rout six minutes from time - moving the Bhoys onto a record-equalling haul of 103 points.
"It was an outstanding team performance at this stage of the season".
Avoiding defeat to Hearts on Sunday will make Celtic Scottish football's first unbeaten invincibles since season 1898-99 but an outstanding team display was overshadowed by the tantrum from Griffiths.
Griffiths put the spot kick away without much fuss, to give Celtic their 100th league goal for the season and set them on the road to invincibility. We go one behind in the record for goals, so we have got everything to play for.
Partick Thistle boss Alan Archibald admitted his side were fortunate to escape with only the loss of five goals.
"We were lucky to only be beaten by five", he said. I think Celtic took their foot off the gas at half-time if I am being really honest. For us, it was very disappointing. We played with a fear tonight.
However, with four minutes of the first half remaining Roberts, on loan until the end of the season from Manchester City, sent a wonderful strike from 25 yards high past Cerny. They could have been ahead before they got the penalty.
Partick had pushed the visitors close in a 1-1 draw at Parkhead in April but they had not tasted victory against their Glasgow rivals on their home patch for 23 years.
