The Mummy: Russell Crowe's Mr. Hyde revealed in new featurette

Here's a synopsis: Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy. Today's offers your first look at Dr. Henry Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (Russell Crowe). The Oscar victor is Dr. Jekyll, a key figure in the new Universal Monsters film universe, and this new video reveals his dark side.

When fans were first introduced to the idea, The Mummy, which stars Tom Cruise, seemed like the kind of standalone monster movie that you can sink into at one time. Jekyll heads up Prodigium, a society dedicated to analyzing and fighting monsters, and this featurette gives us some footage of the interactions between Nick and Dr. Jekyll as Cruise, Crowe, and director Alex Kurtzman discuss these character dynamics. He wasn't a traditional Universal Monster, but that's probably one question too many for this thing. The film will mark the beginning of an interconnected universe of Universal Monsters movies, with Bill Condon recently coming onboard to helm Bride of Frankenstein while other pics like Van Helsing and The Wolfman are in the works.

Dr. Jekyll runs Prodigium, an organization that "pinpoints evil and tries to neutralize it", according to the actor. Of course, Jekyll will have his classic evil alter-ego, Mr. Hyde, who we finally see in the latest promo for the film.

The Mummy is set to arrive in theatres on June 9.

Tom Cruise is joined by a cast including Annabelle Wallis (upcoming King Arthur, television's Peaky Blinders), Jake Johnson (Jurassic World), Courtney B. Vance (TV's American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson), Sofia Boutella (Star Trek Beyond ), and Oscar® victor Russell Crowe (Gladiator).
