Palestinians injured during rallies for prisoners

The advocacy group's head of institutional Relations, Teodora Coptil said in statement: "The move, following efforts of various pro-Israel advocacy groups among which EIPA, signals a more thorough understanding of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and is in line with the Quartet report". "West Bank Palestinians can not vote for the government that dominates their lives".
Initially called for by Fateh-affiliated prisoners, most notably imprisoned senior Fatah official Marwan Barghouthi, the strike has been joined by other prisoners from various Palestinian political factions.
Some 843 prisoners are still on hunger strike, which has rallied wide support among Palestinians, leading to several large protests since it started over a month ago. Some have managed to pressure Israel into releasing them, although some have been re-detained.
The AP, citing video footage, witnesses, and medical officals, reported that a man, whom Israeli media identified as a settler, fatally shot a protester and shot their photographer in the hand after dozens of protesters blocked the road near the Hawara checkpoint.
On May 18, during a solidarity protest at the Huwwarra checkpoint near Nablus in the northern West Bank, an Israeli settler shot and killed 23-year-old Muataz Hussein Hilal Bani Shamsa, wounded a journalist, hit three other Palestinians with his auto, and rammed a Red Crescent ambulance.
Israeli forces attacked the weekly peaceful march held in Nilin village, west of Ramallah, to protest Israeli settlement activities, land expropriation, and the separation wall, said a local activist.
The Israeli military says forces were sent to the scene to disperse a "riot".
MEPs have passed a resolution saying the "two-state solution on the basis of the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as the capital of both states" is the only way to achieve lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
