Cornell family 'cannot be sure' what caused rock star's death

Singer Chris Cornell died as a result of hanging himself, United States officials have confirmed.
Kirk Pasich, a lawyer for Cornell's family, reiterated that it is hard to confirm a cause of death without the results of toxicology tests.

The "By The Sea" star is said to be devastated following the passing of the Soundgarden frontman and the former Paramount CEO, who died within a week of each other.
It has been reported that Chris Cornell's last words to his fans were, "I love you" before leaving the venue of his final show.
Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and Mudhoney were among the most high-profile bands to come out of Seattle and dominated the pop culture landscape of the early and mid-1990s.

Soundgarden planned to headline Pointfest in St Louis in the U.S. on Saturday, however organisers have called off the event in respect of Cornell's passing.
Cornell was roommates with Andrew Wood, lead singer of the Mother Love Bone, who died of a heroin overdose in 1990.
