At least one person killed in Nigeria building collapse

According to PM news, director, Lagos state Fire Service, Rasak Fadipe cobfirmed that a three-storey building under construction collapsed at Richard Abimbola Street, Ilasa, Lagos.

Ibrahim Farinloye, NEMA Spokesman in the south west region confirmed the three dead bodies and the rescue of 19 person alive.

The collapsed building fell on the adjoining buildings to it, trapping many people.

Already, some of the 16 survivors have either been treated by the agency's medical team and Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) or were rushed to the hospital depending on the severity of their injuries.

"On getting to the scene of incident, it was discovered that it was an uncompleted building that collapsed while an unknown number of labourers were doing their various works at different areas".

Mr. Kehinde Adebayo, Public Relations Officer of LASEMA revealed that the Police would resume investigation to ascertain what led to the collapse of the building.

Rescue operations commenced at the site of a three-story building which was being developed at Isolo, Lagos at about 2.45 p.m. on Thursday, following the collapse of the building which trapped many of its construction workers in its wreckage.

"Painfully, bodies of 3 workers were recovered from the building and were all taken to Lagos Mainland Mortuary Yaba".

On Thursday, the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, said rescue efforts were still ongoing by 7:45p.m.
