Spurs lose Parker for the season

The Spurs are still more than capable of finishing the series with the Houston Rockets in five games. The 34-year-old point guard and future Hall of Famer was looking like he'd been transported back into his prime during the first eight games of this year's playoffs for the San Antonio Spurs, establishing himself as the team's second best player in these playoffs behind superstar Kawhi Leonard.

Manu Ginobili said Wednesday night that Parker was in significant pain and unable to bear weight on his left leg.

Cleveland leads the series 2-0. Even with his regular scoring average at its lowest point since his rookie season a decade in a half ago, the Rockets know this is a major loss for San Antonio.

Popovich and his players will have to quickly make an effective gameplan without Parker to advance in the playoffs.

"It's not good", Popovich said of Parker, who scored 18 points in the win. Now, in Game 2 Harden seemed to be affected by a hip injury he suffered early in the game, and didn't have his usual explosiveness and jump, which prevented him from exposing the Spurs' big men consistently. Chances are, especially since both teams are adept at quickly cutting into leads, that we're going to get some tight finishes and close scores right around the corner.

Parker is expected to undergo an MRI scan on Thursday. Parker had to be carried off the court.

"You find somebody to stop LeBron in these moments, I'll give you $100", Toronto's DeMar DeRozan said.

The Spurs are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 road games, 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Friday games. The forward is averaging 30.3 points on 16.8 shots while committing just 2.3 turnovers per game. Only Jordan (109) has more. The Spurs went on to win, 121-96. My coaching staff do a great job of putting me in position to be successful.

Kyrie Irving had a double-double of 22 points and 11 assists as the Cavs cruised. Iman Shumpert came off the bench to score 14 for the Cavaliers, who easily won game one 116-105 on Monday.

The Raptors didn't start Jonas Valanciunas, but he led them with 23 points. Rockets drop game 2 to SpursWith 8:43 left in the fourth quarter, Parker immediately clutched at his left knee after a driving floater over Patrick Beverley and collapsed to the court, where he lay motionless for several minutes.

After Sunday's game in Houston the series moves back to San Antonio for Game 5 on Tuesday night.
