Overwatch Anniversary Event Start Date Officially Announced

Also coming alongside the Anniversary Event is an Overwatch Game of the Year Edition, something that also leaked this week ahead of the initial reveal. Members of the Overwatch development team have been teasing new maps - for competitive play and special game modes - with some of these maps said to be well into development. While it plays like a free-to-play games with its loot boxes and cosmetics, it's a paid product - it retails for $60 on console (it's $40 on PC for the base version), and it's the first game with this model to reach this level of success. We may learn more as it gets closer to next Tuesday, or we could just be surprised during launch. This is May 28 at 5PM for those in Pacific Daylight Time and May 28 at 8PM for those in the Eastern timezone. Blizzard didn't announce the Game of the Year Edition's price; the Origins Edition costs $60, while the base came now costs $40.
