Man Carrying Mother's Severed Head Walks Into Oregon Grocery Store, Stabs Worker

Authorities say a man drenched in blood, carrying his mother's severed head, walked into an OR grocery store on Mother's Day and stabbed an employee.

Other grocery store employees knocked the suspect to the ground and pinned him down until authorities arrived, Estacada fire officials said.

A relative discovered the woman's body at home and called 911 about 15 minutes after the grocery store stabbing attack, reports said.

Police say a man carrying what appeared to be a human head stabbed an employee at a grocery store in OR, and authorities later found a woman's body at a home. When he entered the small grocery store, he was covered in blood, had a large "kitchen-type" knife and was carrying what appeared to be a severed human head, authorities said. "If I had, I would have stopped it", the elder Webb told the Associated Press.

Police described him as "catatonic", the station reports.

Webb was booked into the Clackamas County Jail and is awaiting his first court appearance.

The attack sent shock waves through Estacada, where most residents knew the stabbing victim simply as Mike, a white-haired checkout clerk who had worked at the Thriftway store for years and was beloved by customers for his warm greetings and sense of humour. His wife, Pam Wagner, said on Facebook, "This is such a insane random thing that has happened and I am truly at a loss why someone would do what this person did".

Upon having made his way inside the grocery store, Webb proceeded to stab a worker, known by locals as Mike told Ernie Roberts, interim police chief in nearby Sandy, Oregon.

A 911 caller told the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office that the man walked into Harvest Market Thriftway on S Broadway in Estacada around 2:15 p.m.

Police did not provide any details on what led to Tina Marie Webb's murder.

Investigators allege Webb killed his mother, Tina Marie Webb, 59, at the Colton home where he lived with his parents.

Customers reportedly fled the store and called police. "That's all I know", Mr Webb said.

The employee's co-workers tackled the attacker to the ground while waiting for police.

Responding deputies, Oregon State Police and Molalla police said a woman's body was found at the scene.
