Amazon launches new Fire tablets

Yet, in the case of the Fire 7 tablet, prices will start at just $49.99, while its larger sibling, complete with quad-core processor and 1-million pixel 8-inch display will cost from $79.99.

Amazon now has an offer that if you pre-order any three all-new Fire tablets you can take 20 per cent off the total price. The all-new Fire 7 is thinner and lighter, offers an improved display, longer battery life, and better Wi-Fi connectivity-while keeping the same low price of $49.99. It also includes up to 12 hours of battery life for all-day power, and 16 GB or 32 GB of internal storage, plus up to 256 GB of expandable storage via microSD card. Those interested can sign up to be alerted when the feature becomes available.

Amazon announced on Tuesday that its Alexa smart digital assistant will soon be able to read out notifications from any device with Alexa installed, including the Echo.

Yesterday's announcement included the news that Amazon is rolling out Alexa on Fire tablets to the United Kingdom, which has been left behind since the USA market got the update last fall.

Amazon-exclusive features-Alexa, ASAP, X-Ray, Second Screen, Amazon FreeTime, Family Library, Blue Shade, On Deck, Prime Video downloads, and more. Alexa promptly delivers the weather report via an integrated third party like AccuWeather. However, nobody needs to worry about missing notifications while they are temporarily disabled and Amazon's Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Show devices will flash a green light to show that there are missed notifications.

In March, Apple cut the price of the iPad and Amazon's new Fire devices are not only the most technologically advanced they've ever built, they're also the most affordable since the company moved into the tablet market.

Alexa also will be hitting vintage 2015 Fire tablets. In the US that includes unlimited access to award-winning movies and TV episodes with Prime Video; unlimited access to Prime Music, Audible Channels for Prime, Prime Reading, Prime Photos, Twitch Prime; early access to select Lightning Deals, one free pre-released book a month with Kindle First, and more.

Amazon's done a little less to the Fire HD 8, throwing in faster, more power-efficient internals but leaving everything else the same. Before, a kids version was available only for the 7-inch model, for $100. All four members of the trio will begin shipping on June 7th, and Amazon will knock 20 percent from the price if you buy more than three in one go.
