Paul George Briefly Lakers Rumors With Jimmy Kimmel

George discussed his plans to work out with Lakers legend Kobe Bryant during the offseason, but replied, "I love Indy, though", when Kimmel expressed his hope for George to join the Lakers.

The start of free agency is still a few months away, but Los Angeles Lakers fans are already making a full-court press on Pacers' All-Star Paul George.

Even though Lakers fans want George - who is from Palmdale, California - to play for the team, he did tell Kimmel he loves Indianapolis.

George did not shoot down the possibility of joining the Lakers, mostly just laughing when he was asked questions about it.

"Nah, man", George said about whether that had an impact on him.

"I know I'm always gonna get those ties, I'm an LA kid". If the Lakers keep the pick, they can remake the franchise in the image of Lonzo Ball or Markelle Fultz and, perhaps, George. According to ESPN.com's Zach Lowe, the Lakers "will dangle prospects" in a possible deal for George.

George is set to be a free agent following the 2017-18 season, but, if he's named to an All-NBA team this year, the Pacers have the ability to offer him a five-year $200-plus million dollar contract due to a new clause in the CBA. Regardless of their choice, George's interview with Kimmel made it clear these rumors aren't going away anytime soon.

Previous reports from various sources have indicated that George has strong interest in becoming a Laker, as far as indicating he is "hell-bent" on joining LA's squad (via Sam Amick).
