The Redskins announced that they signed Marley to their 90-man roster on Tuesday.
Nico Marley doesn't have to worry about a thing ... or, at the very least, he no longer has to worry about finding an National Football League team to play for.
Impressed with his performance at last week's rookie minicamp, the team awarded Tulane linebacker Nico Marley a college free agent deal on Tuesday.
Bob Marley died of cancer in 1981 after an iconic reggae music career. He earned first-team all-conference honors in his final two seasons with the Green Wave. His father led the Hurricanes in tackles in 1993 and played alongside Warren Sapp and Ray Lewis.
Undersized at 5-foot-8, NIco Marley, 22, played collegiately at Tulane, where he appeared in 49 games and had 319 tackles (200 solo) and 50 1/2 for losses with 6 1/2 sacks and four interceptions.
"I always wanted to make something for myself", he said to Sports Illustrated back in 2014. "I've never said, 'I'm gonna do it like my dad did it, ' or 'I want to be like my grandfather.' Every individual is supposed to have something he wants to go get, something he wants so bad he don't need anybody's help".
