Sean Spicer under fire during crucial week for Trump

"If you want to talk about contradicting statements, and people that were maybe 'in the dark, ' how about the Democrats", Sanders said, before reading off a list of statements from Democratic leaders criticizing Comey.

"Just turn the lights off. Turn the lights off!"

She has even posted a handy link for anyone else who fancies adding a hiding press secretary among their local shrubbery.

Meanwhile, this wasn't the only time McCabe rebuked the official line out of the White House. "I don't know. I don't know", he said. "He has taken his Navy duties very seriously in all the time I've known him", one source said.

"After Spicer spent several minutes hidden in the darkness and among the bushes near these [television] sets, Janet Montesi, an executive assistant in the press office, emerged and told reporters that Spicer would answer some questions, as long as he was not filmed doing so". It would be the mistake not only because Spicer was there from the beginning, but also because a tough front of the White House would be removed at the criticism of the liberal Trump's critics.

After the Washington Post published a story claiming Spicer was hiding "in" the bushes, someone (presumably Spicer) demanded the paper clarify that he wasn't "in" the bushes, he was "among" the bushes.

On Friday morning, CNN anchor Don Lemon tweeted a video of actress Melissa McCarthy rolling down a Manhattan street, dressed as Sean Spicer on a podium with wheels.

Two days later, Sanders was back in the White House briefing room, pitching a new storyline that Donald Trump already had delivered, in an interview with NBC's Lester Holt.

"If the propaganda "destroy-Trump" media - if they're gonna smear and slander him and his administration and his family and lie about facts and what he's done, why bother", Hannity said.

Earlier in her briefing Thursday, Sanders claimed that Comey's firing had not altered the Russian Federation investigation at all. Look, it may just be that the President is trolling the press corps and saying work yourself into a frenzy about this and turns out it nothing.

Spicer: "I have no reason to believe - I haven't asked him".

After a miserable week defending the president, Sean Spicer and Sarah Huckabee Sanders are both reportedly concerned that they may not be secure in their West Wing employment.
