The timing certainly suggested that NBC was coach-blocking ABC by picking the two names that would obviously make a flawless fit for the other show.
Do you approve of Katy Perry and Chris Martin joining the judging panel of American Idol's 2018 reboot?
TMZ said "American Idol" producers began courting Perry after negotiations with three-time Grammy Award-winner Kelly Clarkson - the first "American Idol" victor, in 2002 - did not reach fruition. Its switch from Fox to ABC, for one, presents many variables that could determine the success of the show.
On NBC, meanwhile, Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson, two of "American Idol's" most famous graduates, have signed on as judges for "The Voice". (Bustle has reached out to Perry's rep for comment, but hasn't heard back at this time.) So right now, this is just a rumor, but while we don't know too much about who will be judging thus far, we do know that Simon Cowell, one of the series' original judges, will not be returning. Cowell, however, told Extra he has "no interest" in reprising his role as the meanie judge in the show. It was a different time with Randy, Ryan and Paula. While the series' longtime host, Ryan Seacrest, recently began co-hosting the morning show "Live with Kelly and Ryan", Variety reported on Wednesday that he nonetheless was in advanced talks about the possibility of returning.
The "Since You've Been Gone" singer said that she is excited to join "The Voice" at NBC.
The man stated that he is focused on these two shows and that he could never go back to American Idol as it will never be the same.
So with Simon Cowell and Kelly Clarkson out of the picture, who are the other judges?
As fans are already aware, the producer is now a judge on both Britain's Got Talent and America's Got Talent.
