Wall's late 3 leads Wiz past Celtics 92-91, forces Game 7

Beal and Wall combined to score 23 of the Wizards' 26 points in the fourth quarter. Now the Celtics return home for a crucial Game 7.

Despite the Boston Celtics' all-black pregame attire, Wall's 3-pointer with 3.5 seconds to play delivered Friday's last rites as the Wizards forced a Game 7.

The play in question came when the Celtics inbounded the ball with 3.5 seconds remaining and the Wizards holding onto their one-point lead thanks to John Wall's late three-pointer. Isaiah Thomas missed a three-point attempt at the buzzer and Washington Wizards survive another game to force a decisive Game 7.

Asked about his players' sartorial decision, Boston's Brad Stevens said: "I'm not on the text chain". Eat it Colin Cowherd. Once again, the Celtics will have enough cap space and draft picks to try to get another high-profile player this offseason, which can bring them even closer to bringing back another title to the Garden. Oubre heard obscene chants directed his way in Boston after getting ejected from Game 3, then suspended, for shoving Olynyk after a pick.

Avery Bradley dunked home an alley-oop with just seconds remaining as the Wizards lead quickly disappeared with the Celtics leading, 42-41 at halftime. That wouldn't have been an insurmountable deficit, but it wouldn't have been a cake walk either. He and Isaiah Thomas reprised their Game 2 battle with each taking turns making big shots down the stretch. Gortat ran to the ball and threw it to Beal.

Wall's shot was the first game-tying or go-ahead 3-pointer in the final 10 seconds of an elimination game since Ray Allen hit one for the Heat against the Spurs in Game 6 of the 2013 Finals. In transition guys are trying to match up, guys are scrambling, the clock is running down. So we're excited. I mean, it hurts right now because we just lost.

There's no sugarcoating it. Wednesday was a must-win for Washington, because 83% of teams in a 2-2 situation, who won Game 5 would go on to win the series.

Wall's turnovers have come down considerably over the past two games after he committed seven in Game 4, a 121-102 win for the Wizards at Verizon Center.

"I'm not going home without a fight, " Wall (26 points) said after climbing down off the scorer's table where he'd ascended for several minutes to satisfy the roars of a sellout crowd of 20,356 that had just gone mad.

If not for a ill advised pull up three by John Wall miraculously going down, Boston would be preparing for Game 1 against Cleveland.

Meanwhile, the Celtics will be feeling that they let one get away as they were actually up by five points with possession in the final 1:15 of the game before things went sour.
