Saints draft cornerback, offensive lineman in 1st round

Lattimore, a one year starter, has been plagued with hamstring injuries throughout his career.

Ramcyzk is a tough player, something the Saints need.

Are there any guys in the National Football League from Wisconsin that you leaned on during this process? It's exciting, some have me going as high as 2 (to San Francisco). The two players each had challenges they had to overcome to see the field during their Ohio State career, but when the opportunities presented themselves, they made the majority. They ranked seventh in fewest passing yards allowed (172.2 ypg), fourth in interceptions (21) and led Division I schools in interceptions returned for a touchdown (seven). "And I'm not saying he can't come inside, but I think he goes to one side of the ball or the other or depending on what you're doing by scheme. Obviously I've loved how he's worked all year and I'm excited about him". I wanted to see why Ohio State and Alabama were recruiting those guys so hard at the time. "Everybody thought I was lying".

As a tackler, Lattimore demonstrates a willingness to assertively pursue the football and get involved.

How does it feel to have gone from that to being a first-round draft pick? "It means so much to my family, and I know the work's just starting out, but I really can not wait to get back to football and playing". In 2016, he played the entire campaign and boy, did he make a splash!?

We'll have to wait on the remainder of the draft before we can judge the Saints' picks, but as you can tell, I'm very much on the fence. He's kind of one of those guys that's wound tight, but it wasn't a medical grade that said, 'Hey, this guy is only going to have two or three more years'. Once you get down the basics, then it becomes a communication and awareness.

In man coverage, Lattimore demonstrates tremendous patience throughout the receivers release to not over-commit and open his hips too early or be guilty of false steps.

"Right now, I'll win", he said.

When you received the call, who was the one that was on the line with you?
