Browns' Myles Garrett Receives Advice From Hall of Famer Bruce Smith

Had anyone ever told him that before?

Hue Jackson said he doesn't mind comments like that from Garrett. "He was just like, 'Yeah, you need to be faster'". After all, here he was, preparing to be the draft's No. 1 pick.

"One person can't win games", he said.

The game the two watched was against UCLA; Garrett had 1 1/2 tackles for a loss and a sack, numbers that might indicate a pretty good game.

"I was talking to (Maurkice Pouncey) after Garrett called me out", Roethlisberger told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

"He played a league above what I am right now", Garrett said. "I've got to soak in all that information and all that greatness".

So during Wednesday's question-and-answer session with the audience, Brown was asked about Garrett saying he would hurt Roethlisberger.

"Stay here and work", he said.

"No, I'm going to be myself", he said.

It's easy to get any quarterback off of the free agency wire, but you're not expecting him to lead this team to any sort of promise. It's possible that nearly none of these players are available at the pick they are taken, but it's an easy way to get to highlight some players in the 2018 class, regardless of where they go or if they choose to come out this season at all. In that span, they'll have time to acclimate themselves to the rigors - both on and off the field - of professional football.

The Browns offered Garrett prime seats for a Cavs playoff game the night after he was drafted.

"I'm not trying to take any time off", he said. I'm going to be going against the very best every single week in a couple months. "But I got big things ahead of me, and there's just this whole team". I'm just going to be respectful.

If Myles Garrett ever shows up for a radio interview and sees Bruce Smith in the studio, Garrett apparently will follow through with the segment.

It should probably be taken as a given that it's hard to fully cover all the interesting stories that come out of the rest of the division while focusing on just one aspect a day, but here is one that we missed from about a week ago, and it pertains to what happened just before the Cleveland Browns' introductory press conference for their three first-round draft picks.
