Watch Hasan Minhaj Get "Presidential" at the 2017 White House Correspondents' Dinner

Hasan Minhaj, an American comedian of Indian heritage, roasted United States President Donald Trump at this year's White House Correspondents' Dinner.

US President Donald Trump has launched a scathing attack on the media during a rally marking 100 days in office.

At the rally in Harrisburg, the president said the media should be given "a big, fat, failing grade" over their coverage of his achievements during his first 100 days and told the cheering crowd he was "thrilled to be more than 100 miles from Washington".

The senior correspondent for "The Daily Show with Trevor Noah" was the latest in a long line of hosts including Seth Meyers, Rich Little and Bob Hope at the annual D.C., black-tie event. "Trump's actions speak much louder than his words, and it is abundantly clear that we can not trust our president's word", Pa. Dems Chairman Marcel Groen said in a release before the event. The last President to miss the dinner was Ronald Reagan while he was recovering from an assassination attempt in 1981.

Minhaj went on to tout the importance of the First Amendment - and the irony that Trump doesn't respect it, even if it gives him the freedom to tweet at will - and thanked the administration for inspiring the next generation of journalists.

Trump's distaste for the dinner is in stark contrast for former president Barack Obama who was hailed for his witty speeches at the event throughout his presidency. And Samantha Bee's Not the White House Correspondents' Dinnerperfectly roasted the absent President.

In reaction to Trump's decision.

"I thought the whole evening was arranged around a response to a guy who wasn't there", said Carlson, who noted that he has attended the dinner for 25 years, but was unable to make it on Saturday. "Unfortunately, that's partly due to a golden president who's rumored to enjoy golden showers".

If you take a look at the website of the comedian, actor, and writer in NY, you will see a bio that explains his surname.

"Welcome to the series finale of the White House Correspondents' Dinner".

Trump then went on to needle the media, touching on familiar themes and picking on his standard targets. "Because Donald Trump doesn't care about free speech". "And that's because he lives in Moscow". We are in a very unusual situation where there's a very combative relationship between the press and the president. It's a Saturday. As for the other guy, I think he's in Pennsylvania because he can't take a joke.
