Atletico Madrid defeated Real Madrid 2-1 last night (May 10) but the latter qualified for their third final in 4 seasons by virtue of aggregate (4-2).
Facing an uphill task following last week's forgettable 3-0 defeat away from home, Atletico fought back to win Wednesday's return leg 2-1 at the Vicente Calderon.
Saul Niguez gave Atletico a 12th minute lead with a header before Antoine Griezmann's penalty made it 2-0 after just 16 minutes.
When the second leg of the Champions League semifinals between Madrid rivals Real and Atletico began, it looked like the hosts were determined to turn the tables on their side to finally get rid of the curse of getting beaten by Real in the European competition.
He told Real's website: "We knew we were going to suffer, especially at the beginning".
Zidane was also asked about how he is balancing the minutes of some players to which he replied: "I don't know if [the players] are happy, certainly the players that play less would like to play more".
Isco's crucial away goal just before half-time "killed" Atletico, according to Ronaldo, and the defending champions saw out the rest of the game to reach the June 3 UCL decider against Juventus in Cardiff, Wales. "I thought we were excellent in the first half". "We have to be proud of the players".
The match was even when Karim Benzema came up with a spectacular move to set up Isco's goal.
"We started to play our game and found Isco between the lines, who did just he always does - hurt the opposition".
Ramos and Higuain were team-mates at the Bernabeu for six seasons, during which time they helped Real win three LaLiga titles, but they will be on opposing sides at the Millennium Stadium and the Spain global has assured no quarter will be given.
"I emphasise the personality of the team after 20 minutes with a very high pressure and we have obtained what we were looking for". We need to clone them.
"This performance was the least that we could have done", Atletico captain Gabi said.
Juve have blended Italian defensive steel with wonderful attacking play as Gonzalo Higuain proves himself to be one of the best strikers on the planet.
That was never going to happen, and the second half was understandably a less exciting affair, but neutral fans all over Europe were again wondering why this rule exists when it can be so detrimental to the spectacle.
"Real Madrid are absolutely not the favourites".
