Game 3: Spurs at Rockets, 6:30 p.m.
Some Golden State players seemed to be pulling for the Clippers over the Jazz in the playoffs, because there's "no comparison" between the nightlife in Los Angeles and Utah. One of the Jazz's wins came in overtime. It's that the Jazz knew less about the consequences of losing.
Both Blake Griffin and Chris Paul can opt out of the final year of their contracts and become free agents, J.J. Redick is an unrestricted free agent, as are numerous role players on the Clippers bench. They have won only three playoff series in those six years.
Outside of Game 5 when he got loose, J.J. Redick was of no effect, averaging just 6.3 points in the other six games.
Whether Los Angeles will keep Doc Rivers around or not is also up for discussion.
After a 24-24 first quarter, the Clippers suffered a comprehensive expose.
But this one was all Utah in the second half. "They have enough money to pay for the jet if they want and come back on game days". This will be a somewhat unpopular opinion amongst Clippers fans, especially considering they will get nothing in return for him to go to another team.
The Jazz led 46-39 at the break. Despite feeling shaky and weak-legged, he returned in Game Five to score 27 points in another victory. "You have to play ideal from then on".
DeAndre Jordan is a terrific rebounder and an athletic big man who can make plays on both sides of the court.
Utah brought three double-figure scorers off its bench. The Clippers held Johnson to 3-for-9 shooting. When they double-teamed either one, the ball got moved to a shooter, Basketball 101 style, and a basket ensued.
Sources close to the Clippers say that they expect Paul to re-sign with the Clippers.
I'm taking nothing away from the fact that he is a great player, it's just a weakness that the Jazz can try to exploit. "Some teams aren't meant to figure it out. I would like to get a crack at it healthy".
"The problem with Utah is that you're just sitting there and your mind is like dead, because in L.A. you still got energy for the game", Iguodala said.
With Paul and Griffin likely to exercise their early-termination options, the Clippers' core could look drastically different next season.
The Clippers have often faced Game 7 pressure, according to the L.A. Times.
"It's unusual", coach Quin Snyder said.
But the Clippers can send themselves all the sympathy cards they want.
Gordon Hayward scored 26 points for the Jazz who advance to the secound round against the Golden State Warriors.
"I'm sure people are going to talk about that", he said. "But give them (Jazz) credit. I'll hire the auto for them". "I love Utah", Ingles said, initially playing it straight, after the Jazz practiced here Monday ahead of Tuesday's Game 1 against the Warriors in Oakland.
