Star Wars: Episode IX Jumps Into Hyperspace for May 2019 Release

Now, Disney has announced that Star Wars: Episode IX will also follow that route and hit theaters on May 24, 2019.

Disney had staked out December for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and the upcoming "Star Wars: The Last Jedi", but now returns to the summer, where every other previous installment had bowed.

Whatever the reason for the announcement, Star Wars: Episode IX will officially hit theaters in just over two years, and that's definitely welcome news. Colin Trevorrow will direct and write Star Wars Episode IX, but as it turns out, he didn't get any help from Johnson at all. The Mouse House have slotted in releases for the likes of Star Wars: Episode IX, the new Indiana Jones movie and lots more. Other films that have already been given release dates by Disney include Lion King, which will be shown on July 19, 2019 and Wreck-It Ralph sequel, Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 on November 21, 2018.

As for the untitled "Indiana Jones 5", the 2020 release date will come when iconic actor Harrison Ford will be 77 years old.

Disney also set a barrage of release dates for the next few years, including for the fifth Indiana Jones film, the live-action The Lion King and Frozen 2.

Next comes "Star Wars: Episode IX" to kick off the 2019 Summer blockbusters.

These are all U.S. release dates, of course, but Australians can expect similar if not the same dates - particularly when it comes to Star Wars. Specifically, the release date of the ninth installment of the film is May 24, 2019.

Ava DuVernay's "A Wrinkle In Time" is being pulled from its original date, April 6, 2018 to an earlier release of March 9, 2018. Both Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg are slated to return, though it's worth noting that Ford will be almost 78 years old by then.

Having a release date in place is nearly a sure sign that more information will be coming forth before we know it.
