Predators regain series lead...Ducks whip Oilers

Patrick Maroon scored toward the end of the opening frame, and the Oilers went into the dressing room down by two.

Leon Draisaitl added an empty-net goal for the Oilers, who don't appear to be feeling an ounce of intimidation in their first playoff appearance since 2006.

Just like that. Rickard Rakkell, Jacob Silfverberg and Ryan Getzlaf were all on the board. For them to win in Game 3, the bulk of the load has to fall on Perry and the rest of the Ducks' goal scorers.

Like past year the Ducks may have to sit John Gibson if they are going to win, but after riding with him in their 1st round sweep of the Calgary Flames it's time for the Ducks to play better in front of him. "We're a very deep team, and we can have a new guy each and every night".

Unfortunately the Oilers got a generous bounce in the last minute of the period.

Ducks defenceman Sami Vatanen did not dress for Game 2, but is said to be getting closer. "Larsson isn't Bobby Orr, but he took advantage of opportunities when presented to him".

Previous year the Ducks came back and pushed the series to a Game 7, Ducks fans may not want to see another Game 7 but if the Ducks don't start playing their game they won't get there.

"I don't think anything was said in particular".

"It does not matter at all - we're up 2-0", McDavid said.

Ducks defenseman Kevin Bieksa injured his knee during the first period, colliding with a teammate.

Getzlaf concurred with Carlyle's assessment of the difference in the game and was more specific about which facet proved decisive.

"We were the benefactor of some bounces [against Calgary}, but again tonight, we directed a lot of pucks and we did a lot of good things, but we got behind the eight ball", Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Cody McLeod scored the game-winner early in the second period, and Nashville grabbed a 2-1 lead in the Western Conference semifinal. That will likely include more screens and traffic in front of the net, where Talbot will need help to keep his field of vision clear. The pass glanced off Ducks defenseman Josh Manson and past Gibson. Chris Wagner restored Anaheim's lead midway through the second period after the Oilers tied the game 3-3.

Rogers Place had little to cheer until the Oilers scored in the final minute of the first period after giving up three to the Ducks.

There was no scoring in the first, but Crosby scored twice in the first 64 seconds of the second period, only to have one of the goals answered by Ovechkin to make it a 2-1 game going to the third. Draisaitl penetrated deep into the Anaheim zone, and with the Ducks backing off, he fed Larsson, who was left alone in the slot for a one-timer that cleanly beat Gibson.

Goal! The Anaheim Ducks will battle the Edmonton Oilers in game 3 of the second round of the Western Conference playoffs in the 2017 National Hockey League season on April 30th at 7pm EST.

A key to doing that will mean continuing to shut down Connor McDavid.

Talbot made 39 saves, Patrick Maroon scored a power-play goal and Edmonton moved halfway to the Western Conference finals with a 2-1 victory over Anaheim in Game 2 of their second-round series Friday night.

Draisaitl has scored in five of his seven career visits to Honda Center, amassing six goals and six assists. Edmonton scratched D Mark Fayne, D Griffin Reinhart, C Matt Hendricks, RW Iiro Pakarinen, C Anton Lander, LW Jujhar Khaira, D Eric Gryba, D Jordan Oesterle, D Joey Laleggia and G Nick Ellis.

That line had all kinds of chances early in Game 2 and were stymied repeatedly by Talbot.
