Delhi Daredevils captain Zaheer Khan returned from injury and elected to bowl at the Feroz Shah Kotla.
Just days after chasing 186 against defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi took their game to an another level by reaching a huge 209 target in only 17.3 overs with the loss of just three wickets against Gujarat Lions. The next in line is Rishabh Pant. The left-hander went berserk, smacking 9 sixes and 6 fours to make 97 off a mere 43 balls.
But, on Thursday night, he made the most of his positive start to rip apart Lions' bowlers. The major advantage of IPL is the to the cricket world is the growing bond between Indian and foreign players. Karun Nair's experience as a skipper has raised several eyebrows and it will be important for the right-handed batsmen to live up to the expectations. He has had good starts, but has not been able to turn them into big scores. "He is a very naturally gifted player, we have been following him in this tournament especially when he played against us in the Wankhede, before that he had a couple of good knocks", he said.
There is little doubt that Jasprit Bumrah has been one of the outstanding bowlers of this year's IPL.
MI had defeated DD in their last head-to-head match, and are looking for a season double. He wants them to stay focused and bring on their A-game in every match. Mumbai, on the other hand, will be eager to end that winning streak.
Delhi Daredevils: Zaheer Khan (captain), Corey Anderson, Kagiso Rabada, Pat Cummins, Mohammed Shami, Amit Mishra, Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Karun Nair, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Marlon Samuels. Having won eight of their 10 matches, Rohit Sharma-led side looked to have the flawless balance in batting and bowling. Parthiv Patel against Gujarat Lions and Jos Buttler against Punjab ensured their team emerged a victor.
The faceoff between the two teams will be a battle to watch out for. Pacer Mitchell McClenaghan is the team's leading wicket-taker with 15.
