Investigation into crash that killed 3 at auto auction continues

Employee Woody Tuttle told WCVB-TV he heard tires screeching and saw the vehicle strike several people.

One witness said it was extremely frightening and they left in shock from what they saw.

Ryan said an auction was going on at the time of accident, just like every Wednesday.

Investigators say there are two lanes in the warehouse, the red lane in which the cars drive in a single file and the blue lane in which people look at the cars.

The crash happened around 10:30 a.m.at 400 Charter Way in Billerica, which is where Lynnway Auto Auction is located.

The third victim, previously identified by relatives, was 36-year-old Leezanda Aponte, a mother of three from Lowell.

Earlier Wednesday, Massachusetts State Police said there was no evidence the incident was intentional.

Randy Miller of Manchester, N.H., who was also attending the auction, said it appeared the vehicle was traveling about 40 miles per hour.

Television aerial footage showed the Jeep smashed through the concrete wall of the auction building, where about 1,500 people had gathered for the sale.

Six victims were taken to Lahey Hospital in Burlington, a spokeswoman told NBC Boston.

Greater Boston's Lynnway Auto Auction Inc. recent event met a horrific end when one of its cars up for auction crashed into the middle of it resulting in casualties. It relocated to North Billerica in August 2011, where it built an eight-lane facility on 58 acres.

In 2014, OSHA cited Lynnway Auto Auction for "serious" violations of workplace safety rules after an inspection found it "failed to require the use of traffic control devices while employees performed maintenance tasks among moving vehicles".

"We have to pray for the other people that aren't feeling good, I'm sorry for the people lost", said Abe Sarraf.

When emergency medical services arrived at the scene, they performed CPR on several people who were injured in the Billerica crash.

"I heard the auto when it when he went through the wall".

The vehicle was waiting to enter the auction but suddenly sped up and crashed into the building.
