Klopp provides intriguing update on Emre Can contract; Reds rejoice

Benteke says he is not angry with Klopp for ending his Liverpool career - and believes his time at Anfield can not be deemed a failure.

The Liverpool manager said in a press conference: "It's no secret how much I like Emre and he likes the club too".

Klopp's side have given themselves a strong chance of finishing in the top four and securing Champions League football next season after building a large enough gap to negate the games in hand that Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal hold on them.

"I wasn't able to express myself".

For once, and it really is weird, Liverpool is in good shape with regards to injuries. We can go for something.

"For some it's a nervy situation, but we need to be courageous, enjoy the game and use the crowd".

"We know about the quality of the opponent. We're focused on our race", he added.

Klopp is not sure if Philippe Coutinho, forced off early in the 1-0 win at Watford with a dead leg, will be fit for the weekend, the manager comparing the Brazilian's tentative efforts upon resuming training to Liverpool's 45-year-old goalkeeper coach.

However, the Brazilian global returned to light training at Melwood yesterday and while Klopp says he can't be sure yet, it looks "positive" that the attacker will be available on Sunday. "Then one week later, we could have gone into the game at Watford in fifth because of other results". "We did it then and now we have to do it again".

The status of captain Jordan Henderson, out since March with a foot injury, remains unchanged, but striker Danny Ings is making progress in his recovery from the knee problem he suffered in November.

Liverpool will make the long trip to West Ham United in their final Premier League fixture on the road in the 2016-17 season.
