They are seven points clear of the relegation zone after Saturday's goalless draw against Stoke City.
And though he insisted he was pleased with his team's display in the Potteries - Bilić still does not feel the London club's Premier League status is totally secure.
"I will be very disappointed if he is not involved in our next game [at home to Tottenham on Friday]", he said. That is the team's work, it is not because we changed the system to three centre-backs and all that.
"I don't think he went for the spectacular, but it was the ball was in that position", Bilic said. Now Spurs, as much as I don't like them, have been excellent this season, so I'm a little anxious. Adrian kept West Ham in the game with three great saves during this half: Xherdan Shaqiri, Saido Berahino and Marko Arnautovic all failed to beat the Spaniard. "And then suddenly you are without him". Apart from that, we also came [into goalscoring positions] many times through the combinations in unsafe areas. Basically you have to score that. "I know that Andy is very settled down, very up for training and looking after his body and it looked, at one stage of the season, that he would be OK and all that".
"I would love it to be that way, but still no club that is around us, below us or a little bit above us, still nine points to play for and we're going to do everything to collect as many as possible".
Scoring seven league goals this season in 18 league games, the England worldwide is Slaven Bilic's second top scorer in England's top flight and would pose a huge threat aerially on Friday if he does return.
"We deserved to go in front". They made it hard for Everton last weekend and they made it hard for us today. Then you are more likely to win it. But we didn't score. The West Ham forward's impressive reflexes saw him send an overhead kick goalwards and Butland respond with a magnificent dive that allowed him to palm the ball to safety.
He added: "We will talk about [his injury record] after the season". We are not panicking but we are not safe.
"We limited Stoke to a couple of really good chances".
Southgate, who had swerved the Manchester derby to watch rugby league on Thursday, will have been encouraged by Butland's performance ahead of England's games with Scotland and France in June, and Hughes knows his ambition is to be his country's No1 again.
"We still made chances".
