The Ducks squandered a 3-2 lead to the Kings in the second round of the playoffs in 2014 en route to a 4-3 series defeat, and they did the same thing last season against the Nashville Predators in the opening round.
Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and an assist, and Rickard Rakell, Chris Wagner and Ryan Kesler also scored for Anaheim, which lost the first two games at home.
Draisaitl, his linemate, assisted on the first three goals and then scored the empty-netter, and he now has seven goals and five assists against the Ducks in six games this season.
Predators 2 Blues 1: In Nashville, Tennessee: Cody McLeod scored the game-winner early in the second period, and the Nashville Predators beat the St. Louis Blues 3-1 Sunday to grab a 2-1 lead in their Western Conference semifinal.
The second break came early in the final period when Silfverberg took a deft pass from Manson between the circles and drove the puck by Talbot.
Don't count the Ducks out until the Oilers have four games, but they're in a world of hurt right now needing to win four games in the next five.
"You don't even have a choice", Cogliano said.
"Everyone has talked about experience heading into the first round and the playoffs. We take this one, learn from what we did right and wrong and get ready for the next one". If the amusing Game 1 line-change chicanery continues, perhaps the Ducks get too concerned with match-ups and lose focus on the rest of the game.
"I don't think anything was said in particular". "I think we needed a game like that where we were able to help the team win".
Anaheim outshot Edmonton 40-23, including 16 shots in the third period, but Talbot was the difference.
Anaheim's first-period onslaught continued at 11:51.
Just 25 seconds into the first period, it was 1-0 Ducks. We've a very deep team. Thanks to great plays by David Desharnais and Connor McDavid, the Oilers found themselves tied 3-3 in the second. There was no lifeline to Laurent Brossoit this time and Talbot took the brunt of the beating, stopping only 22 of 28 shots.
"We might even be a better spot, but we have to respond". Edmonton had won the first two games in Anaheim. It gave the Oilers a 2-0 lead.
Larsson had scored four goals in 79 regular-season games for the Oilers, yet he was one of the most essential figures in their ascension to a 103-point season, compared to 70 past year.
"I was wondering a little bit, wondering what happened, but I thought I was fine", Silfverberg said.
A sold-out Honda Center could barely keep up when a tense 1-1 game morphed into a free-for-all as each team scored two goals apiece in a 4:24 span midway through the third.
Jakob Silfverberg scored a power-play goal and John Gibson made 21 saves for the Ducks, who have never overcome a 2-0 series deficit in seven previous tries.
The Oilers will be playing deep into the spring if Larsson continues to believe he is. The Oilers won 5-3. "OK, the forward tees", said Carlyle.
The Oilers certainly didn't let the momentum limit them, winning Games 5 and 6 against San Jose to advance.
"There's no way we should allow Larsson to skate from the top of his circle all the way down like that", Carlyle said.
"It's one of those, your eyes are telling you it's offside, but if you're the linesman you're going "I don't know for sure" and the call on the ice stands", Oilers head coach Todd McLellan said.
