Qadura Fares, head of the Palestinian Prisoners Club, said that the issue of prisoners' rights had helped breach political divisions in Palestinian society. Samidoun also urges supporters of the prisoners to join and organize protests elsewhere, and to call the White House (202-456-1111) to demand that the Trump administration end its support for Israel's political imprisonment and other crimes against Palestinians. Hamas will now have to turn to the worldwide community for help.
For the eighth day, Israel won't allow lawyers of the prisoners to visit them.
In 2016, the ICRC reduced the program, limiting the number of monthly visits of family members to prisoners to one, saying that a large percentage of family members did not make use of the option of the second visit.
Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem, for his part, told Anadolu Agency earlier that Qatar had recently tabled proposals aimed at ending years of acrimony between rival Palestinian factions Hamas and Fatah.
