United players working overtime for Manchester derby - Mourinho

They have a lot of quality, history. The Ivory Coast worldwide joined United for £30m (€35.4m) last summer and has impressed under the Portuguese manager, who pushed for his signature.

Jose Mourinho's side have been just outside of those Champions League places for the majority of the season, but will fancy their chances of leapfrogging City and/or Liverpool as the season draws to a close.

Mourinho also insisted that it is "a waste of time" to speak about Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with the striker likely to be out for several months.

5 - City have won five of the last eight league meetings between the sides.

However, Mourinho refused to discuss what comes next for the Swede veteran.

"Maybe they look at us with different eyes but I think they are not stupid, they are not naive, and they know that we are going to give them a fight". He has to recover from the injury and prepare himself mentally for the next step.

"His reaction after the game was that he had made the substitution because he wanted more passing".

"I always feel that the season is very important for me, for the players, for the club".

City took 19 shots to United's three - Claudio Bravo only had to make one save before leaving with an injury - and Kompany said the hosts were never in danger, though he lamented not being able to find a victor.

City were beaten 2-1 by Arsenal in Sunday's FA Cup semi-final to end their last realistic chance of silverware under Guardiola this term, having exited the Champions League to Monaco in the last-16 stage and bowing out of the EFL Cup to rivals Manchester United.

Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera, however, are pretty much nailed-on to start provided there are are no late fitness issues with either.

"We have the talent", City manager Pep Guardiola said, "but it's not easy with so many players behind the ball". They've had a big run without defeat in the Premier League. José Mourinho had said: "Our mentality now is to try to forget what is waiting for us and concentrate on this game".

"My focus at the minute is to help us try and reach the Europa League final and hopefully win it and to try and make sure we finish in the top four".

He said: "We should analyse game by game what happened".

'In the first half, we were always risky and there were points where our movement could have been the start of something important but we lost too many balls.

"Psychologically, it is not (important)".

"Another team was better than us in that moment and I congratulated them, they deserved it and [we] aim to improve the next season".
