Saints, top prospects get ready for tonight's NFL draft

With a chance to get Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson at No. 12, the Browns sent that pick to Houston for the No. 25 selection and the Texans' first-round pick in 2018.

The 6-foot-2, 222-pound Trubisky said had little contact with the Bears leading up to the draft. It was the third year in a row - under three different coaches - that the 49ers chose a defensive lineman with their first pick, and the fifth year in a row they chose a defensive player first. The coach has repeatedly stated this offseason he wants a quarterback with arm talent, good processing speed and face-of-the franchise qualities. "I'm going to show these guys what I can do".

After San Francisco took Stanford defensive end Solomon Thomas at No. 3, the Jacksonville Jaguars went with the best running back prospect in the draft with Leonard Fournette from LSU at No. 4.

Trubisky has been considered the top quarterback in the draft and was reportedly coveted by the Cleveland Browns, the most quarterback-hungry team in the league. In his final season, he had 15 tackles for a loss and 8.5 sacks while playing through an ankle injury.

"It adds more fuel to the fire; it's burning hot right now", Garrett said.

While the Browns have a lot of needs, especially at quarterback, they opted to take who experts consider the best player in this year's draft class. It doesn't matter what they say.

Rumors are now circulating, via Ian Rapoport, that the Browns are attempting to swing a trade with the Redskins for quarterback Kirk Cousins. Teams value selecting a signal-caller, even if it's in the latter half of the first round as opposed to the second round, because a first round pick is under team control for five years, whereas a second rounder is only under team control for four years.

Garrett was a three-year starter at Texas A&M, where he received top All-American and SEC honors. "I believe that he can be a great play maker on the field". "I don't have any reason to think that he would do me wrong".

You know, I think I'm going to use this to throw some first round thoughts out there as things happen.

His older brother Sean Williams was a first-round pick in the 2007 NBA Draft for the New Jersey Nets. Moments later, he was back onstage announcing the Texas A&M defensive end's name.
