Oregon Basketball Recruiting: 5-Star Brandon McCoy Commits To UNLV

What a difference 24 hours can make, as coach Menzies and his staff have pulled off a recruiting coup no one thought possible.

McCoy is rated as high as 10th to 15th best high school prospect in 2017 and ranked the 5th best center by ESPN. But the Runnin' Rebels coaches weren't done. IL and Ohio State are also being considered while Kentucky and Duke have also shown interest in Smith.

The 6-foot-7, 215-pound Juiston most recently played for Hutchinson Community College, where he averaged a double-double per game to the tune of 17.3 points and 12.1 rebounds per game. The Rebels finished just 4-14 in conference last season.

He joins a UNLV class that also features four-star power forward Cheikh Mbacke Diong. However, Brandon McCoy will not be one of the new faces in East Lansing as he chose to become the second member of the 2017 UNLV recruiting class. Well Menzies has proven that assumption to be false, showing that he has the ability to quickly develop relationships with high caliber players, and sell them on his vision for where he sees the UNLV program going.

The Rebels hired Marvin Menzies last April after his successful campaign at New Mexico State.

As Michigan State awaits a decision on Wednesday night from one of its top recruiting targets, it found out about another late on Tuesday.
