Complete University Guide reveals its top United Kingdom universities 2018

It is very encouraging to see that we have consolidated our position in the Complete University Guide after major improvements over the last two years.

The Complete University Guide shows that Bradford is the fourth highest rated university in Yorkshire and the Humber, and 58th nationally. In addition to remaining in the top 10 in Agriculture & Forestry subject table - which includes the university's agriculture, countryside, land management, and animal science degrees, and top 20 for Food Science, Harper Adams has climbed an impressive 34 places in the Business & Management Studies subject table, and 16 places in Mechanical Engineering - which covers agricultural and automotive engineering routes.

Brunel University London is ranked among the UK's top 50 and London's top 10 universities in the Complete University Guide 2018, released on Wednesday 26 May 2017.

Authors behind the rankings noted the institution as having the highest entry standards of all universities, and a top score for "research intensity" showing that almost all staff are active in research. They are measures of student satisfaction, research quality, research intensity, entry standards and graduate prospects. We are outward looking, inclusive, and focused on excellence.

That placement came after the university had leaped up the national table by 30 places in three years.

The University of the West of Scotland recorded the biggest climb in Scotland, up ten places to 100th. "Brexit and its consequences notwithstanding, Scottish universities will strive to continue to out-perform, and we look for meaningful support to enable us to do so".

Brunel has risen five places in the past year to appear 47th in the United Kingdom and 8th among the capital's 22 higher education institutions.

The Complete University Guide is a widely-respected and cited online ranking of over 140 United Kingdom universities in one main table, plus 70 individual subject tables to help students compare courses at different universities.

"It is testament to our ambitious and well executed strategic plan which is underpinned by investment in infrastructure, academic staff and our curriculum, all of which is reflected positively in the quality of our teaching".

Dr Bernard Kingston, chairman of, said the guide provides prospective students with carefully researched information.
